each question, each drawing is an invitation to join me in allowing what appears absurd to take us to a wisdom beyond linear thinking.
as long as we question, we are free. free to see, to feel and to express who we are. and to connect collaboratively with one another.

"the emperor's new clothes" by hans christian andersen
this fairy tale has been a companion to me as i have traveled through my life.
briefly, it is about an emperor who was deceived by two tailors who said they were making a set of clothing out of a "dream" fabric. in reality, they used no fabric at all. to make their scam complete, they announced that only those who were wise enough would be able to see the beautiful clothing. and so, no one, not even the emperor, admitted to being unable to see it.
wearing his new "clothing", the emperor paraded through his kingdom. no one questioned his appearance; no one wished to appear less than wise.
until a small child asked, "why is the emperor not wearing any clothes?"
so it is that i ask, if i question rather than believe i am wise, what will i see?

ahhhh.....what is a hug, after all?
:) surely arms are not pre-requisite to give a hug,but intention is....but what happens to the hug if theres no one to recieve it??
so if a hug is an intention, does there need to be someone there to receive it?
Why do we pat a person twice to signal to them we are done hugging?

:) well the hug doesn't have an independent existence so it must have an object, just like a slap, a kiss or a punch...but you could wrap your arms around your own self real tight and give it to yourself, coz no one else will...
what about sara's comment about the intent to hug? no, it isn't the same as a hug but what is it? and if i feel the intent to hug myself, what am i feeling?
if feelings can be expressed,why is hug an intention?

does intention come before feeling? or not? how do the two interrelate?

is the intention the feeling?or they are two different aspects?or is that you feel that´s why you intent to do something to express it?

If i look different,and behave differently, would you still hug me?? ....what if i ask for your hug but i won't want to hug you back ...would you still do it ?? Guess arm lengths does not make a difference....we can come closer to each other ....then again ....is the person's controlled actions that make the difference :)

A hug is a gift of emotion.
When you hug someone, you are exposing your vulnerable part (chest) to the person ur hugging.
The gift can be recieved, but first it must be given.
In my opinion, a hug is not an intention. For an intention itself cannot comfort a friend, cant express great happiness or sadness.
i like the idea of a hug expressing vulnerability. in that respect, i don't know how we could "intend" to be vulnerable. is there a way?
i guess by doing that, you are trusting that person you are hugging.
or that you trust yourself even when vulnerable....?

Pooh(Ger)girl1996 had enlightened me ....thanks ....well guess in my own context....hugging does not always occur ....i hope i am hugged more often ....then again becos of the lack of hugging ....do you think i am an unlovable person ??
perhaps the people you know have very short arms....
What make them to have short arms ??Maybe they have very busy arms ??Maybe their arms are entangled ??Well, maybe i should offer myself to be hugged ....then again if i do am i intending myself to be vulnerable ??
does business or entanglement shorten arms? perhaps many things can.
and offering yourself to be hugged.....there is a beauty in that, it seems.
why do want to ask for a hug? u can always reach out and hug the person u want the hug from.......coz by huggin u give and take at the same time......is askign really necessary?

I think a hug is the physical action that accompanies the intent of comforting or showing you care.
if a hug is given, not with the intent to comfort but with the intent to appear to be comforting, what happens then?
if my arms were to short to reach you would you feel the intent
lovely, in a way.
perhaps, if i saw you reach out, then i could feel the intent....and the hug as it would have been.
Then it depends on how the person receiving the hug views the intent. They decide whether it is comforting, or just an attempt to appear comforting.
well, that's a point to be taken into consideration!
