through my questions, i hope to encounter the paradox within belief, that place where there is not one answer but many contradictory ones.
each question, each drawing is an invitation to join me in allowing what appears absurd to take us to a wisdom beyond linear thinking.
as long as we question, we are free. free to see, to feel and to express who we are. and to connect collaboratively with one another.

- i am a painter who began my career as a child coloring outside the lines of my coloring books. i am a writer who started out by composing adventure stories while riding my stick horse around the backyard. as a child, i got in trouble for asking too many questions...i question that.

"the emperor's new clothes" by hans christian andersen
this fairy tale has been a companion to me as i have traveled through my life.
briefly, it is about an emperor who was deceived by two tailors who said they were making a set of clothing out of a "dream" fabric. in reality, they used no fabric at all. to make their scam complete, they announced that only those who were wise enough would be able to see the beautiful clothing. and so, no one, not even the emperor, admitted to being unable to see it.
wearing his new "clothing", the emperor paraded through his kingdom. no one questioned his appearance; no one wished to appear less than wise.
until a small child asked, "why is the emperor not wearing any clothes?"
so it is that i ask, if i question rather than believe i am wise, what will i see?

Perhaps yes. Just because you say I am your best friend, it doesn't necessarily follow that you're my best friend too. Maybe I don't even know you...
and if i see you or feel that i see you clearly enough to recognize what might be a connection, does that mean you see me at all?
what is it like to "meet" another person?

How about a picture of a dog that thinks he's a cat, meeting a cat that thinks he's a dog?
Aren't me rude if i ask if we have met before ?? Somebody will treat that particular someone as best friend ...when i guess you know that person well....Meet to me, have different meanings ...maybe suddenly in life your paths cross,and you get to know that person.... maybe you know that person well, and there are "dates" to see that person and is called meet.....and there is also meet where a need is fulfilled ....Qn:If i say you are my best friend, will you ask if we have met before ?? I will ask instead, if we are best friends could you lend me your shoulder to cry on, could you hug me because of who i am ...if i say you are my best friend, will you scratch your head and ignore me because you have forgotten me ??

I would ask it in a very polite, non-offensive, kind of way.

If you say you are my best friend doesnt necessarily mean I am yours too, however I would appreciate the fact that you trust me and love me enough to call me your best friend, and you won't be a stranger since I have already appreciated soemthing in you, seen a tiny glimse of the true you.

if i regard you as a best friend it is because we have each listened to and cared about one another. it is about the give and take. i regard you as a best friend because i showed up in your life and you in mine.
so, if you ask me if we have met, then i would question what you mean? do you mean each day is new? or that you have forgotten and do not hear the echo?
or that you have become someone new who brings nothing to the conversation? not even a memory.
regarding the cat and the dog....first of all, i really like the question......
brings up the often used quote....."you see what you want to see......"
so maybe i am a picture of a friend of yours although i never met you before and you have yet to turn that page in the photo album.....
I love your art work...makes me miss my artistic side now that I am pursuing medicine...I guess i need to pull out that sketch book every now and again

If "I" say that, will "you" even consider saying, "Why not?" For all you know, "you" might even say that "We have been best friends for a long time." Wouldn't that be creepy?
so if you lose your memory, i do not have to lose my voice?
