This is one of the most thought provoking blogs around. Thanks for posting... if you haven't already, you should consider a book of your work.

More people should have access to your work.

thank you so much. that is exactly what i would like to do. if anyone has any ideas, guidance, etc. please send it my way!

this really is my passion.....these drawings and questions. as well as the interaction.

Yes, you do make a person think. If I skipped a stone, and I can make them do it really well, there would then be 6 or 7 reflections for you to contemplate. Maybe the fractured images would give you a new insight, or maybe it would frighten you. Still, when the water stilled again, you could continue reflecting on yourself again undisturbed.

s.a., that is an interesting thought.....the skipping stone might creative new images and ways of seeing myself. i wonder if when the water stilled, i would recognize myself again......

l.l., ahh...."reflections in the midst of erudite reflections". i like that! and since i wear glasses, i am glad that you don't throw stones at people who do.

it is interesting that a stone can skip across the surface of a river.......when it is moving, it does not sink.

if i am looking at my reflection, it is occurring to me that i would be still....so, you as a stone skipper, would be introducing movement.

my goal, by the way, was to do 365 of these....and then, explore how to publish them. and hopefully, begin on year two. it is easier to draw and write than it is to market oneself......however, there is a way to do it, i am sure.

ps. i am in the process of editing a series of what might be labeled young adult or juvenile fiction but is really for all ages.

I would be most intereted to read. I love books. In other parts of the space/time universe I am sure I am a famous writer, and so I think I have some taste in the matter of literature.

l.l., i have no doubt that in this universe you are a famous writer and i am enjoying reading your work...maybe i even go to an event where you read from your book. and as i sit there, i say to myself.....he once wrote comments on my blog......

i also am interested in flash fiction or micro fiction. what do you know about that?

if my world spins just right, i might have finished with the book edit in a few months. after all, the process is about skipping stones and watching what is reflected back to me.

Why would you skip a stone across the surface, is it that you would not like the clear refection of me, why must you blurred that image of me ?? Maybe , just maybe, i would dip my hands into the reflection to try to get deeper in the reflection....

anne artist said...

i like your approach much better. thank you for it.

in this country, people skip stones across a river and count how many times the rock skips upon the surface. maybe it is meditative to do that, i don't know. one finds a smooth rock and then lets it fly......

Raji said...

of course! How could I disturb your reflection?

anne artist said...

r, i am not sure how you meant it but here goes......

if i am a reflection...a meditation.....then you won't disturb me. i might notice and say to myself....ah, the water is rippling....and continue on with the meditation.....

RW said...

No. It would be rude.

anne artist said...

then, rw, is there something you would do that would be polite or at least not rude?

RW said...

Let you see yourself. I view the pebble as obtrusive and rude, since you're looking in the river to see yourself. If you laugh or say something, then I can skim it and ripple it up. but until then - it would just obscure your view.

anne artist said...

so if i laugh, most probably at my reflection, then you would skip a stone across the river and my attention would be diverted to something beyond myself.......

i wondered how to work this question.....it changes the question to ask......if i "saw" my reflection. "look" seems intentional whereas "saw" does not.

so, if i happened to see my reflection in a river, would you skip a stone across the surface?

The revelation must complete oneself in respect!

RW said...

Not until I had the All Clear. Otherwise it would be rude of me. You're you. That has to be respected.

E. Studnicka said...

If I defaced your reflection, would you still be able to see yourself?

anne artist said...

i am wondering if you threw the stone, would i see your arm reflected, your stoe s kipping.....

i would lose sight of me. and, yes, that would be rude because then it would be about you. there would be no collaboration.

would we both end up being defaced by it?

E. Studnicka said...

Can you see yourself well enough to continue seeing yourself even after your image of yourself has been violated by someone else?

anne artist said...

i believe i can see myself with my eyes closed.

however, i might not be able to see the me that is reflected back to me.

Lazarus Lupin said...

I believe I can see you
when I haven't seen you at all

anne artist said...

even if i stone is rippling the surface of the river......the ever changing river....?

Lazarus Lupin said...

yep, the mind is a monkey the world is the barrel
can't help it if my imagination has gone a bit feral

anne artist said...

i wonder if you see me more clearly since you have not seen me....

Raji said...

anne, the ripples would distort your image and I wouldn't like to do that, particularly if you are in contemplation of it

anne artist said...

yes.....then i might contemplate the ripples, the distortions.....

Raji said...

the advantage of being an artist is admiring and observing all things...including the distortions

anne artist said...

so, r, if the water were rippling and i looked at my reflection which would be ever changing..due to the movement.....i might see it as a kinetic piece....the movement giving meaning to it in a way that being static could not....

it would cease to be focused on "me" and become lines and shapes and color and texture.....an abstraction.

if i looked at my abstracted reflexion would i be freed up to redraw the lines by which i had defined myself?

Raji said...

totally! That frees you beyond all accepted definitions of you! But would you be able to identify with it?

anne artist said...

do you always identify yourself with how you are in a particular moment? often, i am finding myself to be a new version that seems surprising, at the least.

if i look at my reflexion, will it help me find a way to identify with myself.....even if the image seems new and somewhat unlike me?

If I skip a stone across the river, would you be offended that your reflection is destroyed? and if I tell you see the river and stones dance, would you then join me for a dance, as we hear the music of the stones hitting the river?
and..if the reflection on the river is lost? would you think you can no longer see a reflection of you in me?
too many questions..hope I made sense.
BH

anne artist said...

never too many questions!

perhaps, i would discover how to see my reflection in the skipping stone and so dance differently on the sandy shore.

and i wonder if i would always benefit from being reminded that i see my own reflection in you..

Bleeding Healer said...

you might not always like the fact that you can see a small aspect of you in me....because soemtimes when people start to understand me more than I want them too, I dislike seeing my reflection in their eyes..i am scared that I am discovered.
I like the image..of dancing differently to the different sounds of the stones on water..would your other followers.join us to? or would they be disappointed that I have destroyed your image and thus your reflection? got the question from reading the comments
BH

anne artist said...

it seems that the other followers each have a concept of me and i of them. they would either join your perception and maybe add to it or they would choose another path. and some might not want to see me, rather the images are what matters.

and you raise an interesting point. to be discovered....to be validated in a way but also to be tamed perhaps. and that could be a challenge, depending.
