no, l.l., i would not believe i was an angel. i hear the siren's song and that might interfere with playing the harp in an appropriate manner. i leave that for others with skills in that dept.
and yes, raji, i might believe that only a few feathers would enable me to fly and so approach my life as if that were possible.
my question is, would i believe i could fly because i see bird's wings? if so, would i believe i could be myself and not a bird and still fly?
at this point, i am wondering if i might want to do both. life has taught me about my own imperfections. if i flew moderately well, then i would not believe i was a great flyer and so could relax and soar and laugh at my mistakes.
on the other hand, which in this case might be a wingtip, if i could fly really well, i could ride incredible thermals........
l.l., i received your comment and am looking forward to having some idea what it is about. i'm in texas, an ancestor was davy crockett.......so please translate into texan! or some other form of english....i can even speak californian on a good day.....
you help my wisdom greatly One thing if you had one wing you would be unique for everyone else would have 2 arms or 2 wings
which.. I was told by a wise priest that in the dark everyone is different light brings us together shows us what brings us together dark brings us apart and isolates
if everyone is different in the dark, can we see that? i mean, what can we see in the dark? can we even see ourselves and if not, are we also separated from ourselves?
i am wondering if the light enables us to have the clarity to see.....
i most probably am unique even if my wing has not sprouted. or maybe it is there and i am not aware of it.,
but then so is everyone else is unique in his or her way...so i can connect through that.
you help me learn as well. thank you for your presence.
Because is only one of my arms....i wouldn't believe i could fly ....because before i believe i need to have thots of whatever i know ....just like the image of a flying bird....both sides are wings .....a qn....what is the use of one of my arms turned into a wing ....when the other remained unchanged ....it did not help at all ....when i want to believe something that really works ....i need to have concrete support and evidence that the believe will become a truth ....
so, shepherding....had not thought of that image before.....so you mean, darkness guiding/herding us to separation and i, like a sheep, following it to isolation?
then am i also the sheep being herded into oneness?
i had not considered this before. interesting......
You can... but what about when you are in a supermarket?? little uncomfortable... "Excuse me, take me some sugar please, you see, my wing..." Should it be better having a -pair- of wings, but into my mind? I necessarily need of a single piece of feathers to fly...?? I sincerly hope you havent that wing behind your shoulders! *u*
g, thanks for wishing me well......yes, one wing would be an unusual experience and would make simply activities like grocery shopping a bit of a challenge!
i do like the thought that i could use the wing to fly to another.......to connect........
i am a painter who began my career as a child coloring outside the lines of my coloring books. i am a writer who started out by composing adventure stories while riding my stick horse around the backyard. as a child, i got in trouble for asking too many questions...i question that.
"the emperor's new clothes" by hans christian andersen
this fairy tale has been a companion to me as i have traveled through my life.
briefly, it is about an emperor who was deceived by two tailors who said they were making a set of clothing out of a "dream" fabric. in reality, they used no fabric at all. to make their scam complete, they announced that only those who were wise enough would be able to see the beautiful clothing. and so, no one, not even the emperor, admitted to being unable to see it.
wearing his new "clothing", the emperor paraded through his kingdom. no one questioned his appearance; no one wished to appear less than wise.
until a small child asked, "why is the emperor not wearing any clothes?"
so it is that i ask, if i question rather than believe i am wise, what will i see?

You would, being someone who is dwelling on possibilities, be busy trying to, at least.
would you believe you are an angel?

You would be able to fly and still be part of the earth. But is being able to do both worth sacrificing the ability to do either well?
mwb, that is a huge question.

I think only one wing could not help you to fly....
Wont be begining to change? & be free as a bird?
z, i like this......it's about change....and change enables us to fly to somewhere new......

from the poem Pangur Ban
Practice every day has made
Pangur perfect in his trade;
I get wisdom day and night
Turning darkness into light.
yes, wisdom......there is a topic.......
what is darkness?
you help my wisdom greatly
One thing
if you
had
one wing
you would be unique
for everyone
else
would have 2 arms
or 2 wings

light brings us together shows us what brings us together
dark brings us apart and isolates

s.a......like the athletes who visualize themselves running really fast prior to a race?
if one of my arms did turn into a wing, i would wonder what the change would lead to. i would wish to orient myself to the experience somehow.
if i believed i could fly even if i could not, where might that take me?
l.l., i am interested in your choice of words....you speak of light bringing us together but also:
"dark brings us apart"
the word "bring" is there in both contexts....interesting.
bring does imply that the light and the dark are both actors. Shepards of contrast.
so, shepherding....had not thought of that image before.....so you mean, darkness guiding/herding us to separation and i, like a sheep, following it to isolation?
then am i also the sheep being herded into oneness?
