ah, l.l.....it seems there are two thoughts going on here. one that people need space in order to create...which could be themselves not a painting on canvas. to continue along those lines, i am not sure how to describe life itself except that for me, it is an ongoing act of recreation. which is not necessarily easy. particularly since there does not seem to be an eraser.
yet, if i am a flame...won't i create smoke along with the colors of fire....? the smoke lingering long after the fire goes out.
so, i ask, what is the creative process?
on a personal note, my other computer had a ""moment". and because of that had to be replaced. learning this new system feels like choking on the smoke. i miss ready access to the flame.
a flame is just a flame, there is no smoke until you put something into the flame. almost every flame comes from burning something, and brining smoke. but sometimes there is just a flame.
i love rediscovering myself, because i can only hold so much. so when i rediscover something, i lose something else that then waits for rediscovery.
If you were a flame, don't you think you burn to produce smoke ....in the creative process ....did we create to be choked by something we created ....the kiss won't be a kiss when the phoenix isn't a phoenix ....but if the phoenix is a phoenix ....would it be more than a kiss ....??
i had not thought of the smoke as being part of the creativity of the flame.....the flame is created and then creates the smoke which is something ephemeral and fluid and ever changing until it disappears.....it can create images the flame cannot. is it a collaboration, then?
and very cool question.....will the kiss be more than a kiss if the phoenix is a phoenix?
if i am one who rises from the ashes, do i regard the kiss differently? if i have been consumed by the fire, transformed into ash, only to rise up and fly with new feathers and wings still smoldering........
mwb, that is a huge statement. i am wondering if i live with something i create that i don't like.....really live with it......where might that take me.....maybe somewhere i might not have gotten to otherwise......
if you were a flame, would you lighten my life? and if you are the flaame, even with the light your bring, you would bring smoke,I wouldn't like you to be a smokeless flame; because even though your smoke would bring tears to my eyes, the flame would remind me of the joy, hope and warmth you bring. somehow I can associate it with the fact that I started answering the questions again, and talking to you again brought tears, not literally but just saying.. BH
i am a painter who began my career as a child coloring outside the lines of my coloring books. i am a writer who started out by composing adventure stories while riding my stick horse around the backyard. as a child, i got in trouble for asking too many questions...i question that.
"the emperor's new clothes" by hans christian andersen
this fairy tale has been a companion to me as i have traveled through my life.
briefly, it is about an emperor who was deceived by two tailors who said they were making a set of clothing out of a "dream" fabric. in reality, they used no fabric at all. to make their scam complete, they announced that only those who were wise enough would be able to see the beautiful clothing. and so, no one, not even the emperor, admitted to being unable to see it.
wearing his new "clothing", the emperor paraded through his kingdom. no one questioned his appearance; no one wished to appear less than wise.
until a small child asked, "why is the emperor not wearing any clothes?"
so it is that i ask, if i question rather than believe i am wise, what will i see?

What a paradox to choke on what you create, yet flames do that all the time if they aren't given the space they need.
People too.

there is only smoke to choke on if you are close enough to something to burn it...
...and can recreation (or creation) happen with the help of an eraser? does one recreate or reinvent themselves?
r, for some reason i could not get your comment to post, so i will cut and paste it here:
the flame matters, the smoke can be controlled
burn the flames
sir, so because the flame cannot get away from itself, the smoke would cause it to choke?
as for recreating/creating oneself.....as least, i seem to rediscover myself or at least, aspects of myself.
so, r......if i control the smoke.......is not the fire controlled as well?
l.l., what happens when i burn what is already on fire?

sir, i love this!

a flame is just a flame
a kiss is but a kiss
a pheonix kisses and burns
and a phoenix is just a phoenix......

s.a., your comment is like a creative flame!

We must live with what we create even that which we dislike.

C'mon Anne, anything is possible!
and it is interesting that there are times that the possible seems so impossible.....
