Yes, i would become a cloud to be like a blanket that covers all who were feeling cold and lonely....letting them have warmth and hope that even when the sky falls ....it doesn't matter ....because the cloud still can protect :)
i am remembering the children's story....was it chicken little who sat beneath a tree and an acorn fell on her head and so she thought the sky was falling?
if you became a cloud, maybe you could investigate and send me a message about the sky......you could send me raindrops.....instead of a message in a bottle, it would be a message in a raindrop.
thank you for clarifying, l.l. that is what i thought you meant, but, due to this week's question, i did not want to assume i understood something that i did not.
and as you sent me stories in the raindrops, might you be also recreating how i regard the sky?
Clouds are only water that can't take the heat. If you told me that the sky was falling, I would wish to become a mountain so I could hold it up. But would I? Rarely is our courage tested to the point that we become mountains, as it is very easy to become a cloud.
i have been listening to townes van zandt's "to live is to fly" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2JGc2CvM0EQ)
there is a line in it "we've got the sky to talk about."
if the sky is falling, newness would replace what we often take for granted. maybe we could see the stars, even in the daytime. what would fall? the color blue? would the sky become green and the ground blue?
if you became a cloud, would you float on the ground?
i am a painter who began my career as a child coloring outside the lines of my coloring books. i am a writer who started out by composing adventure stories while riding my stick horse around the backyard. as a child, i got in trouble for asking too many questions...i question that.
"the emperor's new clothes" by hans christian andersen
this fairy tale has been a companion to me as i have traveled through my life.
briefly, it is about an emperor who was deceived by two tailors who said they were making a set of clothing out of a "dream" fabric. in reality, they used no fabric at all. to make their scam complete, they announced that only those who were wise enough would be able to see the beautiful clothing. and so, no one, not even the emperor, admitted to being unable to see it.
wearing his new "clothing", the emperor paraded through his kingdom. no one questioned his appearance; no one wished to appear less than wise.
until a small child asked, "why is the emperor not wearing any clothes?"
so it is that i ask, if i question rather than believe i am wise, what will i see?

and what would you be doing as a hole?
i am wondering if the sky were falling and a cloud were to rise in those circumstances......what would that create?
I'll become a cloud and I'll fall with the sky, and then I'll tell you the trip.

I'd become a hole so the sky could fall into it safely. The Whole of the sky in the hole of me.
A story that a could would tell could be light or stormy depending on circumstances.

mwb, as usual, i really like that your comment takes me to an image i would not have imagined on my own.
i am wondering if a mountain must exert energy to hold up the sky or if it can do so simply by being a mountain.
and also, does it take courage to float in the sky?

Odd I was listening to "What condition my condition was in." where he tripped on a cloud and fell five miles high.
I just hope we aren't lonely clouds. Let's cover the sky like sheep even as it falls.
and from the sheep, would could spin wool to make blankets in which to curl up and watch the sky floating beneath us.
