Without a proper definition or understanding of who we are, we never actually hear anything.

And can't listen without self definition.

You won't lose your hearing if you never listen to yourself because, if that's the case, you never had hearing to begin with.

without a context, we have no frame of reference. no language for what we hear. without sign posts, the road has no scenery.......

If we don't listen to ourselves,we won't lose our hearing but we lose the meaning of hearing...

Listening to both others and yourself is important ....you will continue to hear even as you don't listen to yourself ...but will you "process" what you are hearing....hear needs heart ...listen is just a form of activity you do for the sake of Love ....judge yourself ....which is more important ??

s.a., beautiful.....listening as something we do for the sake of love...

Hearing and listening are two different things. When we don't listen (engage in what is being said) all we hear is noise. When we hear without listening for long enough, we become deaf to the voice pleading to be heard. Our hearts get hard and our ears get dull. Yes, if you don't listen to yourself or others for long enough, you will become deaf to the noise of the words. Sad but true.

steadfast ahoy, i like the concept that to listen is to "engage in what is being said".

thanks!

If you do not say anything, you will never know.

mwb, that's a good point.....if i don't acknowledge it to myself, i won't hear myself saying that i can't hear and the illusion will continue.

and we do enjoy our illusions......at least some of the time.

it's great to hear from you, by the way!
