a fork, you could just sip your soup.

a fork in the road is another way of talking about a road that turns and choices emerge as a result of it. which way do i go? a spoon, well a spoon is something i can use to sip my soup.

a warm comforting soup, perhaps..........i can linger over the soup and postpone decisions for another day. or what if it was a dessert type soup?

if the road forks, i cannot go on as it has. as s.a. says......the road has developed its own legs.......

would i wish to be a place where decisions are made or a tool to enable me to sip life, to nourish myself?

hmmm....Anne, see what you mean...hope someone would invent something that can be spoon and fork ....well, i think it in the way as in ...in this journey of life ...we should not "scoop low" for living life ....and well, guess when i am eating rice ...i need the spoon more than i need it when i am drinking soup ...rice ...people becos of "rice bowl"...can do lots of things that is "unimaginable"....

then, s.a., if we had a combination fork/spoon, would we use our knives differently?

Knifes ...will never go with spoon ....becos logically knifes is used to cut ...and once in piece it is the fork that is in partner to bring the food to your mouth ....so ...guess ...knifes are pair up with forks more than spoons are ....well, anyway thanks Anne for letting me see spoon in a different light :)

s.a., we learn from each other.........

if i were a knife in the road, would it cut through all the traffic?

haha...what does the traffic and road means here ?? Knife ...is used to cut things ...cut through traffic and roads ...gives me an idea of a speeding vehicle :)

knives separate...they make things into bite sized pieces.......

perhaps a knife in the road would enable the traveler to separate the noise from the quiet, the sensory overload from the simplicity so that stillness could be found in the midst of traveling. one step at a time.......movement in the midst of stillness.......if i travel that way, will i become the road itself?

May be in beoming the road ....you will need to put up sign boards to give directions ....and when you put it up...do consider whether the persons on the road understand, use the signs in a correct way and perhaps ...when the knife is alone ....dun forget that there is a fork lieing around ....partner with it ...to enjoy the way :)

ah, yes, we are back to the fork..............full circle..........

and if i make signs to tell travelers about myself, who will read them? will they be so caught up in their journeys that they will not notice the marks i make.........? until perhaps a fork appears........and suddenly then the travelers will look for signs...

if i am a road, then when i sleep, i will dream of knives cutting through the noise. forks opening new ways to reach out across the land. and maybe even a spoon to sip each moment until i awaken.

when i open my eyes, i will realize i am a person dreaming i am a road. i will letter a sign with my name. and walk into the new day.
