A ringing bell...will not experience silence.... but once it stop ringing ....it knows about it ....and most of the time it should felt that it should "dutyfully" observe the silence until the appropreiate time to ring ....becos a bell only rings when it needs to signal the start of a "new" period/chapter of time/life :)...a new period of time for students studying, to change subjects ....and a new chapter of life for the couple whose "wedding bells" ring :)

if a ringing bell signals newness or change, what does silence speak to?

Silence speak to a wait of newness :)

so silence is a way of listening for newness...

if i were a silent bell, waiting, how would i remember the sound of the ringing?

"Tough" to answer....perhaps remember the joys of ringing :)

remembering more of the action of ringing, rather than the sound...

silence then being stillness...

Sally Ang said...

why not both ??...if stillness is silence ...then does action means sounds ??

interesting question...

can action be another form of silence?

and can stillness be the sound of a bell ringing?

Sally Ang said...

Unless is hidden action....and silence can't be ringing bells...but silence can be waves at the sea :)

ah, yes...hidden action...does thatbmake anothervtype of sound?

and the sound of waves...takes me to a place beyond newness, beyond action or stillness...am wondering where that is....
