Somewhat the butterfly knows that being on a tree it will be part of it but just for a while, because it has wings to move away...and that is what it will do. Like us, able to share or not.
Interesting..however I wonder will the butterfly loose its identity if it is regarded as a leaf? would it like to be camouflaged my the leaf, wouldn't it feel hurt to have been blended in with leaf? Will the leaf take offense? Amazing.. hey did you start following my blog, just asking, i had 17 followers and now i have 18 and strange it sort of shows your profile, like the blogs are your blogs...I would be jumping with joy if it is you..i mean seriously OMG.. Happy thanksgiving.. BH
bh, perhaps i am a butterfly turning over a new leaf....i have not followed blogs before but today, i started following a few. yours was one of them. i love the passion and creativity i see there. congratulations!
as for the butterfly's identity....doesn't quantum physics say that particles of the tree are in me when i stand next to it? so, why do i believe i am distinct from it? perhaps, the butterfly can feel the leaf within....
I can then say that since carbon is present in all of us, we are each engraved into each other..so yes the butterfly indeed may feel leaf within, an internal connection, an understanding or perhaps a sense of belonging..but I believe the butterfly would also like to stand as an individual, since we all wish to have sense of belonging, yet be recognized as unique individuals.. therefore, the butterfly might love the sense of belonging yet sigh for having lost her identity.. Oh Anne, what should I say,I am really happy you made my day, I mean a person like you, who is so creative and has such a great blog with so many followers, actually is following me..but I am sorry but I would be a disappointment, I am really amateur, and rambling kinds, I don't have the creativity and good skills of a writer, you would find my blog to be a bore after some time..but I still so grateful and glad that you liked my blog..thanks anne..my friends..thank you.. Much love. BH
bh, to follow along with what you said......you and i are carbon and as such, are engraved into each other. there is no such thing as amateur beauty....and beauty is what i see in your blog.
we share, we connect, we express our individuality.
maybe the tree dreams it is a river running alongside a forest......
but if it dreams it is a tree, do the images of speak of the colors the leaves transform into? or the way they dance in the wind? or how the full moon paints them with a silvery glow?
or the way a branch feels when a butterfly lands on it and dreams it is a leaf?
i am a painter who began my career as a child coloring outside the lines of my coloring books. i am a writer who started out by composing adventure stories while riding my stick horse around the backyard. as a child, i got in trouble for asking too many questions...i question that.
"the emperor's new clothes" by hans christian andersen
this fairy tale has been a companion to me as i have traveled through my life.
briefly, it is about an emperor who was deceived by two tailors who said they were making a set of clothing out of a "dream" fabric. in reality, they used no fabric at all. to make their scam complete, they announced that only those who were wise enough would be able to see the beautiful clothing. and so, no one, not even the emperor, admitted to being unable to see it.
wearing his new "clothing", the emperor paraded through his kingdom. no one questioned his appearance; no one wished to appear less than wise.
until a small child asked, "why is the emperor not wearing any clothes?"
so it is that i ask, if i question rather than believe i am wise, what will i see?

if a green leaf falls from a tree does it become a butterfly or just flutter by?
would the changing of the seasons be cyclical metamorphosis?
i like this one a lot.
sir, thank you. i was excited about this one. i took quite a while to come together.
i will now look at leaves....as they fall this Fall....differently....
and for me, there is a seasonal metamorphosis. i am really looking forward to winter.....to drawing inward..to warming my soul......

i, i like your image....the butterfly's inner knowing...and how that leads it to fly.....
little did the butterfly know it was already part of the tree and both of them complete each other as a whole.
nana......very nice. thanks.
I hope deep down , it knows that it is a butterfly ....
No, it doesnt. It could, but it doesnt.
s.a., how easy it is to forget the inner butterfly when surrounded by leaves....or to forget the inner leaf when surrounded by butterflies......
Interesting..however I wonder will the butterfly loose its identity if it is regarded as a leaf? would it like to be camouflaged my the leaf, wouldn't it feel hurt to have been blended in with leaf?

Aren't the leaves on a tree the butterflies that let the tree take to the air when it can only ever be rooted in the ground?
Happy Thanksgiving.
mwb........i will never look at a tree the same again!
thanks!
no a leaf is part of the tree. The butterfly is on the tree. We might think it would be a leaf but the tree knows the truth.
Does a butterfly dream of being a leaf?
l.l, maybe on a windy day, the butterfly dreams of the leaf's stem, connecting to the tree despite the wind....
Wow ! you made me think how many are simply posing to be this and that.....
k, i had not thought about posing. what you say makes sense. thanks!
ane what is the tree dreaming? Does it dream of its leaves flying free?
maybe the tree dreams it is a river running alongside a forest......
but if it dreams it is a tree, do the images of speak of the colors the leaves transform into? or the way they dance in the wind? or how the full moon paints them with a silvery glow?
or the way a branch feels when a butterfly lands on it and dreams it is a leaf?
